
PROJECT OVERVIEW
This project is a modified GV Design Sprint for House2Home. House2Home is a new start-up e-commerce company that sells home decor items and accessories for people looking to decorate their new homes and apartments on a budget.
House2Home is an e-commerce website that sells home decor items and accessories.
Some of the products that they sell are Prints, Posters, Photos, Light fixtures,Small Accent Pieces and Accessories.
Through customer surveys, House2Home has found that many of their customers have moved into a new home or Apartment.
These users want to buy multiple items to personalize their new place - but, they don’t feel confident doing it on their own.
House2Home sees an opportunity for people to find a great “Starter kit” of items to instantly decorate their new place.
They’ve brought me on board to run a design sprint to quickly test out a possible solution.

My solution should be designed as a website, starting with designs for larger screens (desktop and laptop).
Focus on helping users that want a “starter kit” of multiple products to decorate a new apartment.
Most House2Home products are $10 - $50. They focus on decorative products and accessories. They don’t sell furniture, appliances, or other large pieces.

Pinterest is a visual discovery engine for finding ideas like recipes, home and style inspiration, and more.
Pins are bookmarks that people use to save content they love on Pinterest. Pins can be images, videos or products.
If you click through the Pin, you can visit the website to learn how to make it or where to buy it.
The Pins you save live on your boards. Name your boards and arrange them on your profile however you want. Invite other people on Pinterest to collaborate on Group boards to find even more ideas.

They make the interior design process fun. Users can collaborate with an interior designer to bring their personalized home vision to life.
They’ll match the users with the perfect designer — no matter what their style or budget is. Once they have the user’s decor style quiz results, they can select a designer in their specific style to help them design their unique space.

USERS OPINION ON THE PROTOTYPE:
The testing goal is to understand customers' perceptions of proposed features and validate if the design can boost a more effortless and confident shopping experience when purchasing home decors.
USER NO 1: Harish, Software Engineer, Age 29
Color palette, fonts and images are so attractive.
The website is visually stunning and all the elements are placed properly.
Some background textures could have been in the website so it could have elevated the design.
I like the way minimalism is used in some pages. It makes the page looks sleek.
UI elements could have been used innovatively.
USER NO 2: Aasha, Home maker, Age 33
Earthy tones used overall that gives a pleasant experience.
Gives ample space to show off beautiful interior design imagery that looks beautiful on any device.
The pages are designed so well that we’re excited to skim through the next page.
The colors used in the website are so warm and welcoming.
The icons used here look familiar except for a few. It is not confusing.
USER NO 3: Elizabeth, CA student, Age 28
The layout looks pretty cool. When I look at it for the first time it gives an informal look yet well placed.
I have a bad color sense. Even though I don’t have much knowledge, these colors look good.
Menus are good. I see all the elements in one go and it avoids chaos.
The white space is used well. The text style looks cool.
USER NO 4: Rahul, IT Consultant, 34
The best thing is the alignment of the elements and the right placement of icons.
There are so many options in certain tabs yet they are not too chaotic and crowded. It makes it easier for the users to use.
Subtle colors used in interior design apps are always a hit. It worked very well. I generally don’t like subtle colors but here it worked well.
The way that the elements are organized make it easier to use.
Best thing is it is not too formally arranged so more likely people will buy using this app.

The layout works well and the alignment is good.
It looks good. Of Course it attracts the users but it is unfinished
I would definitely change the light colors and popped our more vibrant colors here and there.
I hope it gives a different designing and a shopping experience.
DAY 6:
WHAT I LEARNT :
The “design sprint” is originally created for conducting in the design team and after this 5-days experience in conducting it independently, I think even one-person a team could benefit from this design process. Here are some of my reflections:
Step out the “Comfort zone” — 8 ideas in 8 minutes? prototype in one day? sketching and more sketching? Yes, no joking, and you’ll be surprised what you have achieved in 5 days!
Critical thinking — there are many decisions that need to make in 5 days, and as you are not only the ideas’ proposer but also your own decider, so it is a great practice for designers in critical thinking and decision making.
Time management — Use timeboxing to split tasks, sprint doesn’t mean in a rush and low quality thus time management is vital to guarantee the outcomes.
Finally, I did see the problem of conducting a solo modified design sprint. It's missing critical components of sharing early ideas, receiving a design audit, and making design decisions with feedbacks from multiple aspects. I am looking forward to participating in a group design sprint shortly!
WHAT I LEARNT :
I set aside a minimum of 30 minutes for each interview I conduced. This ensured there was enough time to get to know us without either of us feeling rushed. Before I started I tried to know as much about them as possible.First, I spend some time determining what I was actually looking for in a candidate. I put a consistent interview structure in place that helped my interviews run more smoothly. I aslo tried to ask the right questions.
MY TAKEAWAY :
I was able to find differences between requirements and designs.
Some corrected typos in texts.
Figured deficiencies in designs.
Made me correct errors at the very beginning
Inspected the navigation and detected irregularities in the application logic.
I’ll work more attention to UX design.
Checked the differences/consistencies in the general design decisions relating to content, fonts, colours.
I’ll ensure better quality for end-users.
